Ways to bet on Greyhound Racing
Greyhound dog racing is a famous sport in Australia, but not many punters know the good ways to place bets. Here are a few pointers:
Primarily you have look for a greyhound track and / or sports book to bet upon. When you are there get a racing form. See what types of racing are going to happen on those tracks. When you fill out the form, always pick your race and see which dogs are available for that particular race. The form will reveal information about the history of the dogs â?? how many races the dog has won, what are the distances they have covered and in what time, etc. you should place your bet on a dog that has covered distances in the fastest time.
How to read odds
There are many television screens in the greyhound racing areas. These screens will indicate the odds. You have to see whether the dog that you have placed the bet upon has higher odds or not. A dog with higher odds is not likely to win the race. However, if it does win the race, you will win a lot of money.
Once you have selected the dog, go to the betting window and place the wager. There are several wagers that you can place. Exacta â?? the 1st and 2nd position respectively, Trifecta â?? the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions, and Superfecta â?? the top 4 positions in that order, are some of the wagers. In case you feel that the set of dogs you have chosen does not fall in this category, you can box the bet and place the dogs in the positions you want.
To the cashier
You can place your bet by letting the cashier know the name of the track, your bet type, the race on which you want to place the bet, the money you would like to put in that bet, and obviously the number of dogs you would like play upon. Ensure that the ticket you have received from the cashier is free from errors. In case it has errors, just ask him to give you a new ticket.
Always keep your ticket handy and keep watching the race carefully. In case your dog has won the race, go to the cashier to get the money you have won. However, if you have lost the race, just tear the ticket and go for the next race.
